This is my "Trashcan Surprise".  I must say, this was the easiest project I have ever built.  All you need is...a can, a cylinder, a solenoid valve, a light, and a prop to attach to the lid.  I used a pumpkin on my lid.  The surprise of the can opening is more than enough of a shock without the addition of a ghoulish figure.  You have to remember the age of our victims when we camp at the campgrounds.  We try not to get "gory". The pumpkin glows when you shine a white light on it.  When the solenoid valve is energized the light socket inside the can is energized also.  I tried to put the light in the pumpkin like how you buy it but the movement will cause the bulb filament to burn out.  I have an electrical switch ran to my can that is mounted to the lawn chair in the pavilion. This chair has the switches mounted on the right armrest.  One person controls two separate props.
